Barbara:
I love working with children, because I enjoy being around them, helping them, watching them develop, and I like the variety and creativity of nanny work.
I love nature, gardening, travel, hiking and walking, reading, music, and cultural events.
I come from a close, loving family. I care about and respect people. I like to volunteer to help the community I live in whenever possible.
I bring many years of education and lie experience, and 17+ years of excellent references for nanny work and teaching to the table when I work with children. I also have an open mind to life and new experiences, and am creative and flexible.
Barbara's childcare philosophy:
I create a safe environment and a secure, caring relationship with the children in my care. After that, any appropriate fun goes. I bring in and make up activities, I find places they like to go, play with them, help them have playdates with friends and field trips, and assist with whatever else they enjoy. I am energetic and can run (literally at times!) all around with them. I am in charge but not "authoritarian" in my approach. I discuss things that come up with the children, and adhere to the boundaries set up by the parents for the household.
I am a good communicator, multitasker, creative thinker, and am organized - a cheerful team playere. I can fit in household management, and feel that providing support to a busy family is meaningful.

What did you find most rewarding?
I have worked with a number of infants and toddlers. There are always challenges when children are ill or need extra direction for behvior changes, but the rewards are well worth it. It is a delight to watch them grow and see their excitement with their new experiences. It is very rewarding to be a help to them with their lives and to have a lovely and fun relationship with them. There is nothing better in the world than babies and children.
