About
Tara:
Hello! I am a recent graduate from SUNY Buffalo where I obtained a Bachelors degree with distinction in Health & Human Services with an Interdisciplinary in Early Childhood. I am looking to move to the Altanta area to find a full-time Nanny position ASAP.
I have volunteer experience in a 1st & 2nd grade classrooms. I have 8 years of experience with children ranging from 0-16 years old. I love to cook and like to keep a clean and active household. I am hard-working, honest, and always punctual. I can provide tutoring, housekeeping, laundry, transportation for the children, cooking healthy meals & snacks, and much more!
Tara's childcare philosophy:
I am a strong believer in Social Scaffolding, a theory in which children learn and are molded from what they are exposed to on a daily basis according to the guidance of their care-givers. Therefore, I believe that the most enriched child-care environment for a child to be in is one with maximum hands-on attention and care in order to facilitate their development. I like to provide guidance, and to model my behavior in a way that children will look up to. I like to stay active and creative and encourage learning new things every day.
I like to provide standards for the children to follow in order to gain self-discipline and respect while still providing a sense of self-independence. For example, I like children to be a part of decision making processes such as helping plan what might be for dinner that night without candy on the menu. This way they feel that there is a give-and-take relationship and not always being told what to do.

Tell us your experience working with newborns and infants. What did you find most
challenging?
What did you find most rewarding?
The youngest that I have babysat on a regular occasion would be a now 3 year old girl and a 1 1/2 year old boy. I have provided babysitting for them from their neonatal days and have much experience as far as infant/toddler feeding/nutrition/sleep/activities etc. Children of these toddler ages are most exciting because of how fast the are learning and growing! The most rewarding thing is when they learn and pick up even the smallest phrases or acts from you. You can just feel how much you are really making a difference in their life when they learn from you!
The most challenging thing for me is honestly tearing myself away at the end of the day. Its hard not to get attached to children of this age because they are always seeking your attention (unlike many older children). It also is difficult for me not to spoil them! I often find myself bringing over toys and finding new games to play. I just want to see them smile when I come back to babysit again!
