About
Axa:
I have worked as a nanny for over 10 years. Prior to this, I used to be a licensed nurse in my country. I was in charge of the maternity unit for 7 years. I also raised 4 children of my own. I believe that children require consitency, care, attention, education, and to have all of their needs met. My priority has always been the safety of children and so I make sure that when I take care of them I become the eyes and the ears of the parents. I'm adaptable to the parenting style of the parents. I am big in communicating with the parents as it is my responsibility to keep them informed.
Axa's childcare philosophy:
I am a nurturer but I also understand that in order for a child to grow healthy one must also set boundaries. I encourage self reliance, autonomy, and exploration. I also work in installing values that will allow children to be fit members to society. I believe in children having freedom within the range of what is safe and appropriate. When I have to redirect a child's maladaptive behavior I take time to also explain why such a behavior was not appropriate. I work in making sure that the needs of the children I work with are met so that they grow in a safe environment.

Tell us your experience working with newborns and infants. What did you find most
challenging?
What did you find most rewarding?
I raised 4 children of my own. I know the challenges and rewards of raising one's children from the day they are born. As a nurse, I assited in the delivery of children and worked in making sure that everything went well until they were taken home by their parents. One of the most challenging stages of children (newborns, infants, and older children) is the separation they face when away from parents. Although it is a difficult process to get through in getting a child adjusted to a new person, it is one which I am adaptable to. This challenge also is linked to the thing I found most rewarding, seeing a child reach their milestones and overcome any situation they face.
