I’ve been babysitting since I was probably around 12, starting with local families in my church, where I developed an early love for nurturing and caring for children. Although, if we're being honest, I was always drawn to being with kids. Throughout high school, I regularly babysat and nannied during the summers, further honing my skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience in childcare. After graduation, I worked as a one-on-one aide for a 5-year-old boy with special needs, where I not only provided daily support but also received extensive training to better assist children with both physical and mental challenges. This experience was informative, deepening my understanding of the unique care these children require and fueling my passion for making a positive impact in their lives.
Following this, I nannied for a family with two daughters, one of whom had medical challenges. This role was both rewarding and emotionally fulfilling, as I became an integral part of their daily routines and long-term care. I still regularly babysit for this family today, a relationship that continues to grow and has shaped my approach to caregiving. After my time with them, I worked with another family before transitioning to my current position at a nonprofit, where I care for 6-10 teenagers who have experienced significant trauma. In this role, I support the emotional and psychological needs of these teens, helping them navigate the complexities of their past experiences while offering guidance and care.Because of this role I have gained a deepened knowledge on the importance of a safe, stable, and loving upbringing and strive to apply that to all the children I work with.
Throughout my journey, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of age groups—from young children with special needs to teenagers facing trauma to infants that have grown into young kids—each experience strengthening my ability to adapt and tailor my approach to meet individual needs. These diverse roles have equipped me with a versatile, compassionate, and empathetic approach to childcare, and I continue to draw from these experiences to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families I work with.
