    About Sydney:

Hi there! I graduated with my BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 2023 and I have utilized what I’ve learned there about human development and behavior to provide clinical structure for the observations I’ve made while working directly with kids since 2018. My schedule is very flexible, and I love to build community with parents and kiddos alike while maintaining professional responsibility. I made my living through social work for the past few years, including providing wraparound care in-home for families who were struggling to adjust after adopting kiddos with extensive trauma. I moved to Chicago from California this May to pursue comedy, and I would love to be able to support myself while caring for kiddos. I've missed being able to assist families in such a comprehensive way and while I loved working with adults, my heart and passion lies with helping kids build the social and developmental skills they need to succeed later in life - and have a fun time doing it! I am a good fit for you if: - you have an unconventional family structure and need someone who will focus on providing services with an open-mind - you have kiddos with special needs and want someone highly qualified to go above and beyond - you want services that provide a higher level of support than simply making sure they don't wreak havoc I am not a good fit for you if: -you require a nanny with their own car

    In My Own Words

Hi there! I have worked with kiddos across ages and challenges for about 5 years now. I have learned that every child is unique and requires support tailored to them, and I’ve been able to develop creative methods for each kiddo to help them feel seen and supported while helping them grow responsibly. I have extensive experience supporting children from adoptive families with special needs and trauma. I have worked with up to four children at a time, and I'm more than happy to support with laundry, cleaning and any other upkeep you may need. I have been described as bright and bubbly, and I'm not afraid to show up for kiddos when they're having a hard time in whatever way they need in the moment. I bring a disciplined and open-minded perspective, and appreciate the opportunity to work with families of diverse backgrounds and support needs. My special skills include: guided meditation, art therapy, loving boundary enforcement and empathetic de-escalation for any meltdowns. I have received feedback that I leave houses cleaner than parents left them, that parents who usually worry about their kids when they're away feel very comfortable knowing they're safe with me, and that I provide structure and guidance beyond a typical nanny.
